Expression under the control of Scer\GAL4eya.enh1+E+2 results in a glossy and small eye phenotype.

At lower expression level (25[o]C), blwJF02896 driven by Scer\GAL4VP16.bam does not significantly affect the number of cysts undergoing meiosis I or II. At higher expression levels (29[o]C), there are significantly fewer cysts undergoing meiosis II or containing spermatids, with fewer mature sperm being produced; spermatocytes accumulate at prometaphase I with perturbed nuclear morphologies yet abnormal divisions proceed.

The expression of blwJF02896 under the control of Scer\GAL4VP16.bam leads to a significant increase in sister chromatid arm cohesion in S5/6, but not S1, spermatocytes; S5/6 spermatocytes show a significant increase in the number of centrosomes compared to controls.

The expression of blwJF02896 under the control of Scer\GAL4Mhc.PW leads to the dorsal longitudinal indirect flight muscles exhibiting mitochondria defects, including abnormal morphology and a significant decrease in electron density in electron microscopy images at 14 and 21 days post eclosion, as compared to controls.
