Expression of P{Sym-UAS-Shaw} using Scer\GAL4C380 increases the resting membrane potential and the fire-rate response of larval motor neurons. Expression of P{Sym-UAS-Shaw} with Scer\GAL4P2.4.Pdf results in a reduction in total sleep during the day and night, but a significant increase in sleep latency only during lights-off, compared to controls.
