Reference

Mutants show a 30% reduction in the number of boutons/muscle surface area at the neuromuscular junction (NMJ) compared to controls. The mean projection area of type Ib boutons at the NMJ is increased by 63% in mutants compared to controls.

veli66 mutant heads do not show any size differences compared to wild-type heads.

Photoreceptor cells of mutant flies kept in the dark for 13 days have a wild-type morphology. The mutants show light-dependent retinal degeneration after 7 days of constant light exposure which can be prevented by raising the flies on a medium lacking vitamin A.
