Expression of srlHMS00857 under the control of Scer\GAL4VP16.mat.αTub67C leads to small ovaries; a complete loss of vitellogenic and mature oocytes; a significant reduction in mitochondrial density (ATP-5A) of stage6/7 egg chambers; and in most of ovarioles a single egg chamber at every stage of development through Stage 8 while it does not lead to cell death (Caspase 3 staining) or nuclear membrane degradation (Lamin staining) in Stage 8 egg chambers when compared to controls.

Expression of srlHMS00857 under the control of Scer\GAL4VP16.mat.αTub67C in stage 6-8 egg chambers leads to failure of oocytes to migrate dorsally, take on yolk and increase in size; and failure of germline cyst ring canals to spread out from each other while the size of egg chamber is increased when compared to controls. It also leads to a double layer of somatic follicle cells overlying the oocytes in stage 8 egg chambers unlike in controls.

At 25[o]C and 29[o]C (for increased expression), expression of srlHMS00857 driven by Scer\GAL4GMR.PU decreases the number of ommatidia and bristles in the eye. Expression of srlHMS00857 driven by Scer\GAL4Ddc.PU significantly increases lifespan (at either temperature) and leads to mild premature loss in climbing ability (25[o]C) over time compared to controls.
