      ArkJ7 mutants show reduced rates of embryonic cell death.

      Stage 17 ArkJ7 embryos contain on average 8.3 midline glia cells per segment, compared to 3 such cells in wild type. Midline glial cell survival is not identical in every segment: segments in the trunk region contain more such cells compared to segments in the head and posterior abdomen.
