Description

Imprecise excision of the progenitor insertion, resulting in a deletion which removes part of the Claspin gene. The deletion extends from nucleotide +4416 relative to the transcription start site and part of the original inserted P{EP} element remains.

Comment:

Deletion resulting from the imprecise excision of P{EP}GE20270, extending from +4416 to +5195, where +1 is the translation start of Claspin. A portion of the EP element remains.

Detailed Description

Eggs laid by homozygous females show a very low rate of hatching (0.2%). Most embryos laid by the mutant females show normal nuclear morphology until division 12, but by division 13-14, less than one-third of the mutant embryos have normal nuclear morphology.

Homozygous animals do not show an increased frequency of generation of mutant clones compared to wild type in a loss of heterozygosity assay.

Ionising radiation-induced G2 arrest and apoptosis occur normally in homozygous eye discs.

Homozygous eye discs show defects in hydroxyurea-induced G2 arrest.

Homozygous larvae show reduced survival in the presence of hydroxyurea compared to wild type.
