Co-expression of Mmus\Xbp1Scer\UAS.cCTa suppresses the impaired climbing ability of Scer\GAL4Mhc.PU MarfGD11094 flies.

Co-expression of Mmus\Xbp1Scer\UAS.cCTa with Hsap\APP2xAPP.SP.Scer\UAS (both under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF) results in bigger, better-organised eyes that lack necrotic spots. Additionally, retinae are thicker and photoreceptors and lenses are better differentiated.

Hsap\APP2xAPP.SP.Scer\UAS flies co-expressing either Mmus\Xbp1Scer\UAS.cCTa in the developing eye (under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF) show milder degenerative changes in the retina compared to flies expressing Hsap\APP2xAPP.SP.Scer\UAS, indicating Mmus\Xbp1 protects against the progressive degeneration of photoreceptors induced by Hsap\APP.
