Expression of Sox21aScer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG under the control of either Scer\GAL4esg-NP5130 or Scer\GAL4Dl-05151-G results in increased number of mitotic cells relative to controls.
MARCM somatic clones in the adult gut expressing Sox21aScer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG under the Scer\GAL4tub.PU driver contain significantly more cells compared to control clones but do not display any abnormalities in the ability of intestinal stem cells to differentiate (assesed by frequency of enteroendocrine cells and appearance of enterocytes in the clones).
The increased cell proliferation observed upon the expression of Sox21aScer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG under the control of Scer\GAL4esg-NP5130 is partially suppressed by co-expression of kaydsRNA.Scer\UAS when an insertion line with a strong expression is used but has no significant effect when a weak-expressing line is used.
