Sequence encoding the C-terminal intrinsically disordered region (IDR) has been deleted from the endogenous Atx2 locus. A GFP tag has been introduced at the C-terminal end of the open reading frame. In addition, a Disc\RFPDsRed.3xP3.cUa marker allele has been inserted into the first intron, transcribed in the opposite orientation to Atx2, as part of the targeting event.
Atx2KI.ΔcIDR-GFP significantly decreases long-term olfactory habituation, but not short-term olfactory habituation, as compared to controls.

At 22[o]C and 25[o]C, expressing Zzzz\poly-GR50.UAS.EGFP under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF induces pupal lethality or visibly necrotic eyes in a small proportion of Atx2KI.ΔcIDR-GFP homozygotes; these phenotypes are not observed at 18[o]C. No defects are induced by Zzzz\poly-GA50.UAS.EGFP expression.
Expressing Hsap\FUSUAS.cBa.Tag:HA under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF induces mild-to-severe eye defects in almost half of Atx2KI.ΔcIDR-GFP homozygotes.
