Zdhhc8KO1 homozygous larvae show molting defects: many fail to molt and remain L2 for a few days, continuing to grow to a size larger than control L2 larvae; other individuals molt to L3, but fail to grow and do not reach the size of control L3 larvae; occasionally, dead L3 larvae have their L2 carcass still attached to the mouth hooks; late L3 larvae weight less than control larvae. No tissue overgrowth is observed.

Zdhhc8KO1 homozygous clones do not present any obvious defects in cell polarity, as cells are morphologically normal, are in a monolayer and present no defects in the sub-cellular localization of Dlg protein, as compared to neighboring cells.
