The nSyb promoter drives expression of FLP, with the FLP coding sequence flanked by a pair of FRT15 sites (in the same orientation). This design results in expression of FLP from this transgene being self-regulating; the use of flanking FRT15 sites corresponds to a low probability of self-excision of the coding sequence, and hence longer FLP activity.
