The testis specificity index was calculated from modENCODE tissue expression data by Vedelek et al., 2018 to indicate the degree of testis enrichment compared to other tissues. Scores range from -2.52 (underrepresented) to 5.2 (very high testis bias).
Transcripts are detected in RNA from antennae but not in RNA from chemosensory depleted heads or bodies. In situ hybridization reveals a10 expression surrounding the sacculus and in patches elsewhere on the antenna. The distribution of transcripts is consistent with sensilla-coeloconica-specific expression.
a10 transcripts are detected in RNA made from appendages but not head or body. They are primarily found in cells in the largest cavity of the sacculus. They are also expressed in a few cells on the anterior and posterior surfaces of the antennae, in sensilla that are probably coeloconic.

Please Note This section lists cDNAs and ESTs that fall within the genomic extent of the gene model, which may include cDNAs and ESTs of genes within introns, or of overlapping genes. Please see JBrowse for alignment of the cDNAs and ESTs to the gene model.
For each fully sequenced cDNA the DGRC maintains various forms of the cDNA (e.g tagged or untagged) in several different host vectors for subsequent cloning and expression in Drosophila and Drosophila cell lines.

Encodes a putative olfactant binding protein.
Isolated from a subtracted antennal cDNA library enriched for cDNAs expressed in the antennae but not the rest of the head or body of adult flies.
An a10 cDNA has been cloned and sequenced.
a10 is one of seven clones that have been identified from subtracted cDNA libraries, containing antennal cDNA from which head cDNAs have been subtracted. The protein is expressed in subsets of olfactory hairs and have a putative signal peptide at the amino terminus.
