The testis specificity index was calculated from modENCODE tissue expression data by Vedelek et al., 2018 to indicate the degree of testis enrichment compared to other tissues. Scores range from -2.52 (underrepresented) to 5.2 (very high testis bias).
Ag5r2 transcripts are detected only in larvae on northern blots. They are present at lower levels in other stages as shown by RT-PCR. Ag5r2 transcripts are detected in embryos by in situ hybridization starting in stage 15. They are restricted to a subset of cells within the posterior midgut epithelium. These cells lie just posterior to the third midgut constriction at the end of stage 15 and eventually form a loop within the midgut at stage 17.
