AlphaFold produces a per-residue confidence score (pLDDT) between 0 and 100. Some regions with low pLDDT may be unstructured in isolation.
5' UTR contains an ORF that is conserved among Drosophila species (FBrf0202906); potential peptide 38 aa in length; no initiating methionine.
Low-frequency RNA-Seq exon junction(s) not annotated.

The testis specificity index was calculated from modENCODE tissue expression data by Vedelek et al., 2018 to indicate the degree of testis enrichment compared to other tissues. Scores range from -2.52 (underrepresented) to 5.2 (very high testis bias).
Eye-enriched transcripts determined by ratio of expression level in wild-type heads. versus expression level in so heads.
Eaat2 transcript is detected at high levels in adult heads. Transcript is also present, at barely detectable levels, in late embryos, larvae, and in the adult body. In stage 15-16 embryos, Eaat2 transcript is detected in the ventral nerve cord, in 4-6 cells per abdominal neuromere. Three symmetrical clusters of cells in the anterior embryo, possibly corresponding to the Bolwig's organ, also express Eaat2 transcript. The cells expressing Eaat2 transcript are likely to be interneurons or glial cells, while those expressing Eaat1 transcript may include motor neurons. No Eaat2 transcript expression is detected in the larval CNS by in situ hybridization, although expression is detected by RT-PCR. In the adult, Eaat2 transcrit is detected at high levels in the retina and ocelli.

Please Note This section lists cDNAs and ESTs that fall within the genomic extent of the gene model, which may include cDNAs and ESTs of genes within introns, or of overlapping genes. Please see JBrowse for alignment of the cDNAs and ESTs to the gene model.
For each fully sequenced cDNA the DGRC maintains various forms of the cDNA (e.g tagged or untagged) in several different host vectors for subsequent cloning and expression in Drosophila and Drosophila cell lines.
