Supported by strand-specific RNA-Seq data.
Gene model based primarily on RNA hairpin predictions and siRNA identified by RNA-Seq, as described in Okamura et al., 2008 (FBrf0205296), Czech et al., 2008 (FBrf0205160), and Wen et al., 2015 (FBrf0227265).

The testis specificity index was calculated from modENCODE tissue expression data by Vedelek et al., 2018 to indicate the degree of testis enrichment compared to other tissues. Scores range from -2.52 (underrepresented) to 5.2 (very high testis bias).

Please Note FlyBase no longer curates genomic clone accessions so this list may not be complete
Please Note This section lists cDNAs and ESTs that fall within the genomic extent of the gene model, which may include cDNAs and ESTs of genes within introns, or of overlapping genes. Please see JBrowse for alignment of the cDNAs and ESTs to the gene model.
For each fully sequenced cDNA the DGRC maintains various forms of the cDNA (e.g tagged or untagged) in several different host vectors for subsequent cloning and expression in Drosophila and Drosophila cell lines.
New annotation (CR46342) in release 6.17 of the genome annotation.
The siRNAs derived from esi-2 all arise from one genomic strand.
All of the esiRNAs from this region were found in a sense orientation with respect to the orientation of CG4068 (i.e. the genomic 'minus' strand).

"esi-2" overlaps with CG4068 and consists of 20 palindromic approximately 260 nucleotide repeats.
The most abundant smallRNA derived from this hairpin is esiRNA-sl-1. Other small esiRNAs derived from this hairpin were recovered: esi-sl-2, esi-sl-3 and esi-sl-4.
esi-2 consists of 20 tandem repeats that partially overlap the 3'UTR of CG4068 and which generate phased small RNA duplexes. Each repeat adopts a hairpin structure, but higher-order hairpins are possible because repeats are complementary to each other.
