ScerGAL4Gyc-89Da.1.9 is expressed in a subset of the gustatory receptor neurons that innervate the labellar sensilla in third instar larvae and in a few olfactory neurons. In the adult, it is expressed in the gustatory neurons of the labellum, with more neurons being labelled in females than in males. Three of these gustatory neurons in the lateral region of the labellum co-express ScerGAL4Gyc-89Db.3.4. In addition, 11 of the 12 gustatory neurons that express ScerGAL4Gyc-89Da.1.9 co-express DiscRFPGr66a.PD, a marker for bitter-sensitive neurons. ScerGAL4Gyc-89Da.1.9 is found in a subset of the gustatory receptor neurons of the anterior wing margin and in the three most distal segments of the prothoracic leg.
