Contains a Ecol\lacZ plasmid reporter construct within a P{CaSpeR} transformation vector. Designed to be used to study somatic mutagenesis in Drosophila. The pUR288-S plasmid can be rescued from transgenic flies containing P{pUR288-S} by excision of genomic DNA with HindIII or PstI. The rescued plasmid can be transformed into E. coli and used to study the nature of any somatic mutations that have occurred in the transgenic flies.
