Detailed Description

rn16/rnroe-3 adult eyes show a moderate small and rough eye phenotype.

rn16 shows both "rn" and "roe" phenotypes. rn16/Df(3R)rn20 males lack the sex comb and all five tarsi of the leg appear fused into one segment. The claw is still present. rn16/Df(3R)rn20 animals have small, rough eyes. There are an average of 5.7 photoreceptors per ommatidium in these flies. Larval eye imaginal discs show abnormal photoreceptor differentiation. The morphogenetic furrow appears to progress more slowly across the disc in some areas than others, creating a wave-like appearance of developing photoreceptor clusters near the morphogenetic furrow.

Allele shows both rotund and roughened eye phenotypes.
