Detailed Description
Statement
Reference

Embryos derived from females expressing hbΔ do not form abdominal segments.

Developing embryos lack abdomens. The pole cells are not enclosed by gonadal mesoderm but do express the correct markers. ovoD1 females transplanted with hbΔ pole cells produce fertile progeny, the pole cells do condense into the gonad.

hb protein is expressed uniformly in the posterior half: larvae lack abdominal segments. hb protein accumulates in the pole cells.
