Embryos from females carrying one copy of the transgene form two posterior abdomens and termini in mirror image symmetry.
nanosbcd.3UTR has abdomen | ectopic phenotype, suppressible by hbbcd.3UTR
hbΔ, nanosbcd.3UTR has embryonic thorax | anterior phenotype, suppressible | maternal effect by bcdΔ
nanosbcd.3UTR has embryo | posterior | ectopic phenotype, suppressible by bcdΔ
nanosbcd.3UTR has embryo | anterior phenotype, suppressible by bcdΔ
Double abdomen phenotype of nosbcd.3UTR is suppressed by hbbcd.3UTR.
The bicaudal phenotype of embryos from nosbcd.3UTR mothers is rescued by adding two maternal copies of bcdΔ, resulting in restored polarity, correct head development and rescued abdominal denticle patterning. The embryos still lack the anterior thorax (due to lowered levels of hb activity).

One insertion of this allele termed "n-bvar", with incomplete penetrance, demonstrates a correlation between the amount of localized nos RNA, the degree of hb (maternal) translation and the pattern of Kr, kni and gt transcription.
Substantially overproduce nos protein.
