Description

The maternal hb promoter drives the expression of the full hb coding sequence and part of the bcd 3' end that includes the anterior localisation sequence but not the nos response element (NRE).

Construct: cDNA of the maternal 3.2kb transcript including 1kb of sequence upstream from the maternal P1 promoter as well as a part of the bcd 3' UTR directly behind the stop codon of the hb coding region. The nos NREs are not included.

Mutant phenotype of bcd mutant embryos is enhanced, due to ectopic activation of gt by hbbcd.3UTR. Mutant phenotype of bcd, tsl double mutants is partially rescued by hbbcd.3UTR. Double abdomen phenotype of nosbcd.3UTR is suppressed by hbbcd.3UTR.
