Contains a 20bp deletion near the beginning of the ro protein-coding region.
22bp deletion that results in a frame shift after amino acid 30.
A small deletion in the 5' end of the coding region that results in a frameshift after the 31st codon.
Twinning of R8 photoreceptor cells is seen in mutant animals.
Ommatidia contain 2-3 R8 cells, ectopic R8 cells arise from the R8 equivalence group.
Compound eyes are smaller than wild type and arrangement of the facets is disorganised.
Eye discs contain well-spaced clusters of cells with apically disposed nuclei, the number and arrangement of the cells is grossly abnormal. More than one boss-expressing cell was observed within many clusters. Prior to row 6 many cells per cluster contain boss-immunoreactive multivesicular bodies, boss is internalized as soon as boss expression is present on an adjacent cell surface. This correlates with a decrease in the number of R1-R6 neurons and an increase in the number of R7 neurons.
rox63 is a suppressor of photoreceptor cell R8 | somatic clone | cell non-autonomous phenotype of sensE1/sensE2
rox63, svp1 has ommatidium phenotype
In rho7M43; ru1; sensE2 triple mutant clones, no photoreceptors differentiate except for a few photoreceptors near the clonal boundary, presumably rescued non-autonomously by neighboring wild-type cell. No rescue of photoreceptor development is seen when these triple mutant clones are made in a rox63 homozygous background.
rox63 is rescued by roUAS.cFa/Scer\GAL4hs.PB
svp expression is derepressed in the eye discs in cells at the position of the R2 and/or R5 cells.
No interaction with P{sev-svp1} or P{sev-svp2} exists.
