About 20% of embryos derived from homozygous female germline clones survive through the larval and pupal stages.

Imaginal discs appear normal but the flies die as late pupae or pharate adults. Less than 1% of adults eclose. Escapers have mild rough eye phenotype and are sickly. A small fraction of larval neuroblasts are polyploid.
