The combination of the Ser^Bd-3 and Ser^+r83k alleles in trans results in the development of a vestigial wing.

Ser^Bd-3/Ser^+r83k transheterozygotes are pupal lethal.

(Hukriede and Fleming, 1997)

Heterozygotes with Ser^Bd-3 die as pharate adults with abnormalities in the leg such as fusion of the femur and tibial segments and loss of the wing blade. Homozygotes and hemizygotes are viable.

Loss of the dominant wing nicking phenotype. Ser^Bd-3 Ser^+r83k combination is lethal, flies die as pupae and when dissected from the pupal case they exhibit eye roughening, lack of wing blade and haltere material and fusion of the first and second tarsal segment of all six legs.

The addition of Df(1)N-81k1 or N^Ax-59d has no effect on the Ser^Bd-3/Ser^+r83k wing phenotype. The addition of N⁴¹⁴ or N^l93 partially suppresses the Ser^Bd-3/Ser^+r83k wing phenotype.
