Expression of SerScer\UAS.cGa under the control of Scer\GAL4nos.UTR.T:Hsim\VP16 results in an increase in the number of hub cells in the gonad in male larvae compared to controls.

SerScer\UAS.cGa third instar nota clones (under the regulation of Scer\GAL4mat.αTub67C.T:Hsim\VP16) do not affect sensory organ numbers.

Ubiquitous expression of SerScer\UAS.cGa under the control of Scer\GAL4arm.PS or Scer\GAL464B produces no change in the shape, size or pattern of denticles. Ubiquitous expression of SerScer\UAS.cGa under the control of Scer\GAL4arm.PS in a SerRX106/Df(3R)Bd background results in severe morphological defects; the mouth hooks develop additional sclerotic material at the middle and base and about a quarter of the embryos show duplication of the mouth hook tips.

Flies expressing SerScer\UAS.cGa under the control of Scer\GAL4l(3)31-1-31-1 show transformation of the trichogen to a tormogen fate in the notal macrochaetae. The transformation does not affect all notal macrochaetae equally. Some transformation of the microchaetae is seen in these flies.

Scer\GAL4ptc-559.1-mediated expression causes cell proliferation in the ventral compartment of the wing imaginal disc. Scer\GAL4Ser.PGF-mediated expression allows nearly normal wing development, adult wings are largely normal with the exception of the distal tip region that shows some double margin formation and ventral overgrowth.

When expressed via Scer\GAL4hs.PB in embryos, suppression of neuronal differentiation occurs due to excessive N activity. When expressed via Scer\GAL4e22c, animals die at approximately the first larval instar but with no gross morphological abnormalities.

Scer\GAL4sca-537.4-mediated expression (causing activation of N) leads to loss of R8 cells (inhibition R8 cell differentiation) and of other photoreceptor cells with incomplete penetrance.

DlScer\UAS.cLa, SerScer\UAS.cGa double-mutant third instar nota clones (under the regulation of Scer\GAL4mat.αTub67C.T:Hsim\VP16) typically contain ten or more ectopic sensory organ precursors. Addition of the SerScer\UAS.cGa transgene, to DlRevF10 SerRX106 double mutant third instar nota clones, under the control of Scer\GAL4mat.αTub67C.T:Hsim\VP16, partially rescues the ectopic SOP phenotype, with approximately 26% of SOP positions exhibiting between one and four SOPs.

Weakly suppresses the wing nicking phenotype seen in mamN.Scer\UAS, Scer\GAL4C96 flies.

The transformation of the trichogen to a tormogen fate in the notal macrochaetae caused by SerScer\UAS.cGa expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4l(3)31-1-31-1 is enhanced by Df(3R)Dl-M2 and suppressed by Tp(3;3)bxd110. The bristle transformation phenotype seen when both SerScer\UAS.cGa and DlScer\UAS.cJa are expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4l(3)31-1-31-1 appears to be additive. The transformation of the trichogen to a tormogen fate in the notal macrochaetae caused by SerScer\UAS.cGa expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4l(3)31-1-31-1 is suppressed by co-expression of fngScer\UAS.cKa.

Expression in a fng- background causes dorsal cell proliferation (displacing the dorsal/ventral margin). Scer\GAL4hs.PB-mediated expression causes death prior to the end of embryogenesis. Mutants display severely reduced neuronal differentiation. Simultaneous expression with fngScer\UAS.cKa reduces lethality associated with ectopic expression of Ser and restores normal neuronal differentiation, flies develop into phenotypically wild type adults.

When expressed via Scer\GAL4hs.PB in a Df(3R)Dl-BX6 background, neuronal hyperplasia is reduced.
