Flies expressing B52Scer\UAS.cKa under the control of Scer\GAL4dsx.PU do not show impaired development of sex-specific features.

Expression of B52Scer\UAS.cKa under the control of Scer\GAL4ey.PU results in eye defects; 33% of eyes show slight disorganisation, 19% have are smaller than normal and 2% are completely missing.

Expression of B52Scer\UAS.cKa under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF results in strongly reduced eyes.

All females expressing B52Scer\UAS.cKa under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF die as late pupae and less than 1% of males expressing B52Scer\UAS.cKa under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF eclose. Male survivors have weak retina defects (this phenotype is fully penetrant). Flies expressing B52Scer\UAS.cKa under the control of Scer\GAL4sca-537.4 are viable but fail to develop bristles.

When expression is governed by Scer\GAL4hs.PB sternopleural bristle number is reduced. When expression is governed by Scer\GAL4dpp.blk1 salivary glands are 100% undeveloped and wings 0% are unfolded (100% remain folded). When expression is governed by Scer\GAL4G-17 40% of abdominal sternites show a defect. When expression is governed by Scer\GAL4I-65 there is no survival beyond the 2nd larval instar.

Scer\GAL4A-25-mediated expression causes lethality during larval and pupal stages allowing a few adults to survive. Scer\GAL4A-27- and Scer\GAL4C-70-mediated expression causes lethality during larval and pupal stages. Adult survivors from Scer\GAL4G-17 expression have abdominal sternite defects. Scer\GAL4I-86-mediated expression causes abdominal sternite defects in adults. Scer\GAL4hs.PB-mediated expression causes bristle defects, wing defects and slower egg production in adults.

Co-expression of Top1Scer\UAS.cJa strongly suppresses the eye defects caused by expression of B52Scer\UAS.cKa under the control of Scer\GAL4ey.PU; 96% of eyes are wild type, and 4% show slight disorganisation in the double mutants.

Co-expression of Top1Scer\UAS.cJa partly suppresses the mutant eye phenotype caused by expression of B52Scer\UAS.cKa under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF.

Flies expressing both B52Scer\UAS.cKa and Rsf1Scer\UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF survive to adulthood and have retina defects. Flies expressing both B52Scer\UAS.cKa and Rsf1Scer\UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4sca-537.4 are viable and show complete (10% of flies) or partial (90% of flies) rescue of the sensory bristle pattern.

Xenogenetic Interactions
Statement
Reference

When expression is governed by Scer\GAL4hs.PB in combination with Zzzz\aptamerB52.BBS.Scer\UAS the bristle number is restored to near normal morphology. When expression is governed by Scer\GAL4dpp.blk1 in combination with Zzzz\aptamerB52.BBS.Scer\UAS the salivary glands are restored to near normal morphology and the wings are restored such that 20% are unfolded. When expression is governed by Scer\GAL4G-17 in combination with Zzzz\aptamerB52.BBS.Scer\UAS less than 5% of abdominal sternites are defective. When expression is governed by Scer\GAL4I-65 in combination with Zzzz\aptamerB52.BBS.Scer\UAS 60% of the flies survive to adulthood.
