Description

UASt regulatory sequences drive expression of amino acids 223-285 (the bZIP region) of CrebB. The protein is expected to act as a dominant negative.

Detailed Description

Expression of CrebBCbz.UAS in Crz neurons under the control of Scer\GAL4CrzR.3.5.PS results in flies that show a significantly delayed recovery from ethanol-induced sedation.

When expression is driven by Scer\GAL448Y the number of copper cells is reduced. The effect is similar to, but less extreme than that seen with kayFbz.Scer\UAS. When expression is driven by Scer\GAL4hs.PB lethality results.

The increase in food consumption compared to controls seen in adults expressing sNPF-RScer\UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4sNPF-R.2.5 is suppressed by co-expression of CrebBCbz.Scer\UAS.

Comments

Protein acts as a dominant negative as the bZIP domain is able to dimerize and bind DNA without being able to stimulate transcription.
