Description

P{EP} insertion 460bp upstream of the esg translation initiation codon. The P{EP} element is oriented such that expression from the element should result in overexpression of esg.

Detailed Description

Expression of esgEP633 under the control of Scer\GAL4ey.PH has no effect on eye size.

Expression of esgEP633 under the control of Scer\GAL4ey.PH results in eyes that are slightly reduced in size.

No obvious phenotype.

Expression of esgEP633 under the control of Scer\GAL4dpp.blk1 causes a mild reduction in the size of the wing, in the region between wing veins 3 and 4.

The bang sensitivity of bss1/+ flies (more than 50% of flies are bang sensitive) is substantially suppressed by the expression of esgEP633 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu. However, the 100% bang sensitivity of bss1/bss1 flies is not suppressed by the expression of esgEP633 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu. The seizure sensitivity of eas2 flies is partially suppressed by expression of esgEP633 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu; the mean seizure threshold is raised to 13.3 +/- 3.2 V (for a high frequency stimulus of 0.5msec pulses delivered at 200Hz for 300 msec).
