Detailed Description

Flies expressing Cdc42GMR.PN have slight eye defects associated with occasional fusion of ommatidial units and misoriented bristles.

Cdc42GMR.PN flies have rough eyes.

Flies carrying Cdc42GMR.PN have moderately reduced rough eyes with an almost normal array of well-defined ommatidia.

Expression of Cdc42GMR.PN in a wild-type background does not disrupt photoreceptor axon projections.

Flies bearing one copy of P{GMR-Cdc42.N} show a rough eye phenotype distinct from that caused by P{GMR-Rac1.N} or P{GMR-Rac2.N}. Ommatidial morphology is disrupted and photoreceptor cells are occasionally lost. Rhabdomere morphology is abnormal. Postmitotic elongation that establishes the depth of the retina is aberrant.

Genetic Interactions
Statement
Reference

The rough eye phenotype of Cdc42GMR.PN flies in unaffected by heterozygosity for Mbs03802.

Flies carrying Cdc42GMR.PN in a Df(3R)rn20/+ background have larger and less rough eyes than flies carrying Cdc42GMR.PN in a wild-type background, but ommatidial packing is affected more in Cdc42GMR.PN Df(3R)rn20/+ flies; the ommatidia are less closely associated with each other, resulting in gaps or channels between them. Interommatidial bristle are sometimes duplicated.

Does not significantly alter the photoreceptor axon projection defects caused by expression of trioGEF1.GMR.T:Hsap\MYC.

Xenogenetic Interactions
Statement
Reference

Co-expression of Zzzz\ExoSGAP.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF restores the eye morphology to wild type in Cdc42GMR.PN flies.
