Flies heterozygous for HP8 show highly penetrant L5 vein shortening phenotype and less penetrant L4 shortening.

Heterozygotes show loss of macrochaetae.

In H1/HP8 flies a complete transformation of all external sensory organ neurons into sheath cells. In H99/HP8 flies causes transformations of external cells to double sockets.
