Flies expressing ppo^EP2478 under the control of Scer\GAL4^ap-md544 show loss of macrochaetae and microchaetae on the dorsal midline, a deformed scutellum and alterations of chaetae in the anterior border of the wings (both loss and duplications of bristles are seen).

Expression of ppo^EP2478 under the control of Scer\GAL4^sca-537.4 results in a loss of external support cells in both macrochaetae and microchaetae as well as a duplication of presumptive sheath cells. Sensory organs with no socket and one shaft and one socket and two shafts are seen. Potential socket-to-shaft transformations are seen on the wing margin.
