    brnfs.107/brnl.6P6 larvae have significantly increased bouton number and satellite bouton number at the neuromuscular junction of muscle 4, compared to controls, with no effect on bouton size.

    brnl.6P6 mutant larval peripheral nerves have a diameter comparable to wild-type nerves, and similarly to wild-type, do not show attached plasmatocytes.

    In brnl.6P6 third instar visual systems, R-cell axonal projections are defective and the lamina plexus is discontinuous and of variable thickness.

    Strong brn allele.

    Follicle cells line the wall of the germarium but only sometimes extend processes, leading to split cysts. They frequently lose their cuboidal or columnar shape and exit the epithelium around the oocyte and its adjacent nurse cells. Also follicle cells at the posterior end of the egg chamber become mesenchymal-like indicating they have not adopted a border cell fate.

    Homozygous females lay eggs with fused dorsal appendages: embryos show neurogenic phenotypes. Neurogenic phenotype of brnl.6P6 is more extreme than that of brnfs.107.

    The R-cell axonal projection phenotype of brnl.6P6 and egh9pp4 mutants is not enhanced when flies carry both mutations simultaneously.

    Eggs derived from brnl.6P6/brn+; grk3/grk+ females show an intermediate to strong fused dorsal appendage phenotype that is indistinguishable from eggs laid by brn females.

    Expression of Hsap\β4Gal-T6Scer\UAS.cWa, under the control of Scer\GAL4arm.PS, in egh9pp4 mutants rescues the R-cell axonal projection phenotype. However, Scer\GAL4arm.PS > Hsap\β4Gal-T6Scer\UAS.cWa expression does not rescue the R-cell axonal projection phenotype in brnl.6P6 egh9pp4 double mutants.
