Hemizygous brains show a bimodal distribution of larval neuroblast proliferation; 43% show proliferation within control values, while proliferation is decreased in 57% of cases.

Reduction in neuroblast proliferation in trolp4 homozygous larvae is suppressed by heat shock of CycEhs.PR animals. Reduction in S phase larval neuroblasts per brain lobe in trolp4 homozygotes is enhanced by heterozygosity for bnl06916 or btlLG19 but not htlAB42. Of ttv00681b/+; trolp4/trolp4 larvae, 29% show increased numbers of S phase neuroblasts per brain lobe and while 5% show decreased numbers.
