In addition, the chromosome is precisely deleted for the 297{}323 insertion (this is a natural transposable element insertion that is present in the sequenced strain). The deleted sequence corresponds to nucleotides 156006-162922 of scaffold AE003619.

SnooSH1402/SnooEX4B animals die at the larval-pupal boundary.
SnooSH1402/SnooEX4B larvae have a much reduced lamina cap, lamina plexus and R7-R8 lattice area in the medulla compared to wild type. The medulla neuropil is significantly reduced in size and altered in morphology in the mutant larvae.
