P{lacW} insertion in the Snoo 5' UTR.

(Ramel et al., 2007)

P{lacW} insertion 735bp upstream of CG7233 in between nucleotides 155798 and 155799 of scaffold AE003619. In addition, the chromosome is precisely deleted for the 297{}323 insertion (this is a natural transposable element insertion that is present in the sequenced strain). The deleted sequence corresponds to nucleotides 156006-162922 of scaffold AE003619.

Homozygotes and Snoo^SH1402/Snoo^EX17B animals die at the midpupal stage.

Snoo^SH1402/Snoo^EX4B animals die at the larval-pupal boundary.

Snoo^SH1402/Snoo^EX4B larvae have a much reduced lamina cap, lamina plexus and R7-R8 lattice area in the medulla compared to wild type. The medulla neuropil is significantly reduced in size and altered in morphology in the mutant larvae.
