Centrosome asymmetry during cytokinesis in mutant pI (sensory organ precursor) cells in the notum is identical to that seen in wild-type pI cells.
Within α-Adaptinear4 pIIa-pIIb cells, an apical actin-rich structure (ARS) is formed normally.
In somatic clones of α-Adaptinear4 in the head, most bristles are transformed to have 2-4 socket cells and no shaft. In α-Adaptinear4 somatic clones in the head, 92% of the macrochaetae show cell fate transformations of either pIIb into pIIa or hair to socket. Similar defects, although at a lower frequency, occur in microchaetae in these clones.
AP-2αear4 has tormogen cell | ectopic | somatic clone phenotype, non-suppressible by numbhs.PU
AP-2αear4 has macrochaeta | somatic clone phenotype, non-suppressible by numbhs.PU
AP-2αear4 is a non-suppressor of macrochaeta | heat sensitive phenotype of Nl1N-ts1
The bristle transformations seen in α-Adaptinear4 clones are unaffected by the presence numbhs.PU together with heat shock (2x45 minute 37oC heat shocks separated by 30 minutes, at 16-18 hours APF). Macrochaetae in somatic clones of α-Adaptinear4 in a Nl1N-ts1 background at 29oC exhibit a phenotype typical of N (bristle loss), rather than that seen in α-Adaptinear4 somatic clones in a wild-type background (transformation to socket cells).
