CYLDf00814 mutants are significantly more likely to die from Serratia marcescens infection than their wild-type counterparts.

CYLDf00814 mutants exhibit a significant reduction in survival under hypoxic conditions, as compared to controls.

Homozygotes do not show any obvious external morphological anomalies.

The majority of homozygous adult females have fat body cells of an abnormal size and morphology, although staining with Nile red indicates that the fat body cells are able to accumulate lipids in adult homozygotes. Adult homozygotes have significantly more but smaller lipid droplets compared to wild-type controls. Total triglyceride content is increased by 79.8% in adult homozygotes compared with controls.

Homozygous adults show increased survival under starvation conditions compared to controls.

Homozygous flies show a reduced rate of survival compared to control flies following infection with Gram-positive (Enterococcus faecalis) or Gram-negative (E.coli) bacteria.
