Expression of Atx2GD11562 under the control of Scer\GAL4NP1227 (limited to the adult stages using Scer\GAL80ts.αTub84B) has no effect on the short term habituation (STH) seen following exposure to either ethyl butyrate (EB) or CO[[2]], but results in a complete block of long term habituation (LTH) to this odorant.

Expression of Atx2GD11562 under the control of Scer\GAL4P2.4.Pdf (co-expressed with Dcr-2Scer\UAS.cDa) increases the period of circadian locomotor darkness.

Expression of Atx2GD11562 under the control of Scer\GAL4GH146 completely blocks the long-term habituation (LTH) seen when flies are exposed to ethyl butyrate (EB) for 4 days. LTH to CO[[2]] is unaffected. Short term habituation (STH) in response to 1 hour of EB exposure is also unaffected, as is the EB-avoidance response. In contrast to controls, no increase is seen in the volume of either the DM5 glomerulus or the DM2 glomerulus in response to 4h EB exposure. The volume of the V glomerulus increases as in controls. There is a significant reduction in EB-evoked calcium flux compared to controls. A block in EB-specific LTH is also seen when expression of Atx2GD11562 is restricted to the adult stages using Scer\GAL80ts.αTub84B.

Expression of Atx2GD11562 in the CO[[2]]-responsive VPN under the control of Scer\GAL4VPN selectively blocks LTH to CO[[2]] without altering either STH to CO[[2]] or the naive olfactory response to CO[[2]]. No growth is seen in the volume of the V glomerulus, but normal EB-induced growth of the DM5 glomerulus is seen.

Expression under the control of Scer\GAL41407 results in an increase in the average size of neuroblasts in the larval brain compared to controls.

Adults expressing Atx2GD11562 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu (in the presence of Dcr-2Scer\UAS.cDa to increase the efficiency of RNAi) do not show a significant defect in avoidance of noxious temperature (46[o]C) compared to control flies.

Expression under the control of Scer\GAL4Mef2.PR results in late pupal lethality.
