Tendon cell projections connecting dorsolongitudinal muscles do not elongate at 28-32 hours after puparium formation in animals expressing chasGD7593 under the control of Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237, in contrast to controls.

Expression of chasGD7593 under the control of Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237 in the notum results in notum bristles and trichomes pointing to the midline and multiple trichomes per cell. Epidermal indentations are seen in most anterior notum regions. The anterior indentations are detected by 27-28 hours after puparium formation (APF) and are very obvious by 32 hours APF, coinciding with the attachment domains of the ventral dorsolongitudinal muscles.

Bristle and socket cells of the notum have rotated towards the midline more than in controls in animals expressing chasGD7593 under the control of Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237 at 32 hours after puparium formation.

Expression of chasGD7593 under the control of Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237 from 14 hours after puparium formation (APF) (using the temperature sensitive Scer\GAL80ts.αTub84B allele to limit repress expression before this stage) results in weak bristle orientation defects in the notum.

Adults expressing chasGD7593 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu (in the presence of Dcr-2Scer\UAS.cDa to increase the efficiency of RNAi) do not show a significant defect in avoidance of noxious temperature (46[o]C) compared to control flies.

Expression under the control of Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237 results in bristle morphology defects on the notum in 0% or 20-30% of the Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237 expression domain, depending on the insertion line used.

Expression under the control of Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237 results in planar polarity defects in the orientation of bristles of the notum in 20-30% or 60-70% of the Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237 expression domain, depending on the insertion line used.

Co-expression of jbugGD13033 and chasGD7593 under the control of Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237 results in enhanced indentations of the anterior notum epidermis and enhanced planar polarity defects compared to either single mutant.

Co-expression of jbugL.Scer\UAS suppresses the planar polarity defects and the anterior epidermal indentations in the notum which are caused by expression of chasGD7593 under the control of Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237.

Co-expression of chasGD7593 and zipDN.Scer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP under the control of Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237 from 14 hours after puparium formation (using the temperature sensitive Scer\GAL80ts.αTub84B allele to limit repress expression before this stage) results in strong bristle orientation defects and epidermal indentations in the notum.
