Expression of mfrnGD336 under the control of Scer\GAL4Act5C.PU causes lethality in under low iron conditions, whereas flies eclose at normal rates when reared on normal or iron-enriched food.

Expression via P{GAL4-tim.E}27 or P{cry-GAL4.Z}17 (in the presence of Dcr-2Scer\UAS.cDa) does not significantly affect circadian rhythmicity in locomotor activity assays in constant darkness.

Expression of mfrnGD336 suppresses the reduced survival seen when fhdsRNA.Scer\UAS.cLa is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4Act5C.PU in response to 2.5mM iron treatment. The reduced survival seen in fhdsRNA.Scer\UAS.cLa-expressing flies at 15mM iron treatment is not suppressed by mfrnGD336. The reduction in aconitase activity is completely restored.

Expression of mfrnGD336 enhances the reduction in lifespan seen when fhdsRNA.Scer\UAS.cLa is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4Act5C.PU on a normal diet.

Expression of mfrnGD336 suppresses the motor defects and brain vacuolization observed in flies expressing fhdsRNA.IR.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4repo.PU.
