Adults expressing Cyp18a1GD1176 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu (in the presence of Dcr-2Scer\UAS.cDa to increase the efficiency of RNAi) do not show a significant defect in avoidance of noxious temperature (46[o]C) compared to control flies.

Animals expressing Cyp18a1GD1176 under the control of Scer\GAL4da.G32 display metamorphosis defects, and 95% show pupal lethality. During the prepupal to pupal transition, animals die in three phenotypic classes. Of those that pupariate, 72% of animals die as prepupae or as early pupae after delayed head eversion. A small proportion of mutants die as pharate adults, and a very small number of adult escapers are observed. All animals that pupate display a malformed leg phenotype, and some also show displayed head eversion defects.

87% of animals expressing Cyp18a1GD1176 under the control of Scer\GAL4da.G32 and Scer\GAL80ts.αTub84B at 25[o]C display a leg malformation phenotype.

Expression under the control of Scer\GAL4Mef2.PR results in a weak flyer phenotype.

Induction of expression of ftz-f1hs.PM at 25[o]C in animals expressing Cyp18a1GD1176 under the control of Scer\GAL4da.G32 rescues lethality and leg abnormalities.

Induction of expression of ftz-f1hs.PM at 25[o]C in animals expressing Cyp18a1GD1176 under the control of Scer\GAL4da.G32 and Scer\GAL80ts.αTub84B rescues the leg malformation phenotype. Only 12% of animals display any leg defects, compared to 87% of control animals.
