Adulthood-generated midgut clones expressing spenKK100153 under the control of Scer\GAL4Tub.PU have more cells and show a severe increase in the number of Intestinal stem cells (Dl-positive), as compared to control clones.

Adulthood-induced expression of spenKK100153 (using Gal80[ts] for the temporal control of expression) under the control of either Scer\GAL4esg.PU, Scer\GAL4Su(H).GBE, Scer\GAL4pros-V1, Scer\GAL4NP0001, or Scer\GAL4esg.PU plus Scer\GAL80Su(H).GBE, leads to a significant increase in the number of mitotic cells per posterior midgut, as compared to control; adulthood-induced under the control of Scer\GAL4esg.PU, Scer\GAL4Su(H).GBE, or Scer\GAL4esg.PU plus Scer\GAL80Su(H).GBE, but not under the control of Scer\GAL4pros-V1 or Scer\GAL4NP0001, also leads to a significant increase in the density of stem cells in the posterior midgut, as compared to controls.
