Expressing FASN1HM05141 under the control of Scer\GAL4DcG leads to viable third instar larvae that contain a normal amount of fat tissue but appear to lack fat stores, as extracted fat bodies sink to the bottom of PBS-containing reservoirs, unlike floating lipid-filled controls. Fat cells exhibit a decrease in the size and an increase in the density of peripheral lipid droplets although these remain intact, adjacent to the cell surface, compared to controls; there are no changes in cytoplasmic medial lipid droplet size or density.
Expression of CG3523HM05141 under the control of Scer\GAL4Bx-MS1096 results in slight curling of the wing.
