Detailed Description

The expression of TER94UAS.cHa under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu does not lead to significant locomotive dysfunction in third instar larvae and adults, or obvious eye defects, as compared to controls.

There are no significant differences in total branch length between control larvae and larvae expressing Scer\GAL4elav.PLu>TER94Scer\UAS.cHa.

Flies expressing one copy of TER94Scer\UAS.cHa under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PS have a mild eye ablation phenotype, with a slight loss of red pigmentation, irregular ommatidial packing and missing interommatidial bristles.

Flies expressing two copies of TER94Scer\UAS.cHa under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PS show considerable eye degeneration and have very small eyes. The external surface of the eye is glassy and less pigmented than normal.

Late pupal heads expressing TER94Scer\UAS.cHa under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PS show massive apoptotic cell death in the compound eye cells.

Co-expression of TER94Scer\UAS.cHa suppresses the rough-eye phenotype induced by Scer\GAL4GMR.PS>cazVDRC.cUa.

Flies co-expressing TER94Scer\UAS.cHa have significantly better climbing ability than do flies expressing Scer\GAL4elav.PLu>cazVDRC.cUa alone.

The decreased branch length phenotype caused by Scer\GAL4elav.PLu>cazVDRC.cUa in motor neurons is significantly enhanced by TER94k15502/+.

Total branch length phenotype caused by Scer\GAL4elav.PLu>cazVDRC.cUa in motor neurons is significantly suppressed by the co-expression of TER94Scer\UAS.cHa. The number of synaptic boutons is also significantly increased in Scer\GAL4elav.PLu>cazVDRC.cUa larvae co-expressing TER94Scer\UAS.cHa compared with larvae expressing Scer\GAL4elav.PLu>cazVDRC.cUa alone.

Expression of TER94Scer\UAS.cHa under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PS enhances the rough eye phenotypes caused by Zzzz\CAGQ79.GMR.T:Zzzz\FLAG or by Zzzz\CAGQ92.GMR.T:Zzzz\FLAG.
