      Some zygotic GaleΔy/Galef00624 animals die as embryos, whereas others survive to first-second larval instar stages. Surviving L1 and L2 larvae are abnormally small and lethargic.

      GaleΔy/Galef00624 zygotic animals derived from Galef00624 germline clones die uniformly in late embryogenesis displaying no morphological defects.

      Expression of Hsap\GALEScer\UAS.cSa using either Scer\GAL4arm.PS or Scer\GAL4Act5C.PI rescues the lethality of GaleΔy/Galef00624 animals. Rescued animals are viable, fertile, and appear morphologically normal.

      Expression of Hsap\GALEScer\UAS.cSa using Scer\GAL4drm.7.1 partially rescues the lethality of GaleΔy/Galef00624 animals, whereas use of Scer\GAL4elav-C155 or Scer\GAL4c754 is completely insufficient to rescue or delay lethality of this genotype.
