Expression of SxlHMS00609 under the control of Scer\GAL4VP16.nos.UTR increases the number of single cells and 2-cell cysts and reduces the number of 16-cell cysts in the female germarium compared to controls.

The expression of SxlHMS00609 under the control of Scer\GAL4VP16.otu leads to strong increases in the numbers of germline stem cells and of spectrosomes, as compared to controls.

The expression of SxlHMS00609 leads to severely smaller wings (under the control of Scer\GAL4nub-AC-62 ) and eyes (under the control of Scer\GAL4ey.PH) and leads to a severe increase in apoptosis (TUNEL assay), basal delamination and a decrease in size of the wing disc posterior compartment (under the control of Scer\GAL4e22c), as compared to controls.

Under control conditions, the adulthood-only expression of SxlHMS00609 under the control of Scer\GAL4esg-NP7397 (and Gal80[ts], for the temporal regulation of expression) does not significantly affect the overall mitotic index in the female and male adult posterior midgut, as compared to controls; expression in clones under the control of Scer\GAL4tub.PU leads to a significant decrease in clone cell number at the posterior midgut in females only at 15 days after clone induction, but not at 5 days after clone induction, as compared to control clones.
