UAS regulatory sequences drive expression of a short inverted repeat.
Expression of eglGL01170 under the control of Scer\GAL4mat.αTub67C.T:Hsim\VP16 results in complete delocalization of stau, Khc, Dynein and BicD proteins as well as osk, grk and bcd mRNAs and the oocyte nucleus in stage 10 egg chambers. Most mature mature eggs from these flies display ventralized phenotype and loss of dorsal appendages. eglGL01170 RNAi causes disruption of the microtubule network organization in the oocyte: the microtubule plus ends normally enriched at the posterior pole are scattered within the oocyte. The phenotypes described above are seen when the P{matα4-GAL-VP16}V37 insertion of the driver line is used, which is turned on in early stage egg chambers after oocyte specification. The P{matα4-GAL-VP16}V2H insertion line is expressed later (from stage 5/6 onward) and does not cause the microtubule disorganization phenotype, but defects in localization of osk, grk and bcd mRNAs are still observed in stage 10 egg chambers.
Expression of eglGL01170 under the control of Scer\GAL4mat.αTub67C.T:Hsim\VP16 leads to delocalization of the osk mRNA in egg chambers and also affects its ability to form oligomeric particles.
