UASt regulatory sequences drive expression of 100 CGG repeats (derived from the 5'UTR of Hsap\FMR1) followed by the Avic\GFP coding region in the GGC glycine-encoding (+1) frame. An ATG codon has been placed upstream of the CGG repeats.

      The rough eye phenotype (of varied severity) observed in adult flies maintained at 28[o]C and expressing any of the following: Prosβ21.Scer\UAS, Zzzz\CGG100.5'UTR.Scer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP, Zzzz\CGG100.5'Stop.Scer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP or Zzzz\CGG100.5'ATG.Scer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP is enhanced when any of these Zzzz\CGG transgenes is co-expressed with Prosβ21.Scer\UAS - combination with Zzzz\CGG100.5'Stop.Scer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP produces the weakest while combination with Zzzz\CGG100.5'ATG.Scer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP the strongest phenotype enhancement (all ommatidia fused along with necrotic lesions).
