P{EP} insertion within an intron of shn, upstream of the transcription start site of the B isoform. In the presence of a Scer\GAL4 driver levels of the B transcript, but not other variants, are increased.

      Mis-expression of shn, through expression of shn756.Scer\UAS in the entire circadian circuit through Scer\GAL4tim.PE results in a lengthening of daily activity rhythms. The addition of Scer\GAL80Pdf.PS, preventing expression in Pdf-positive cells rescues the endogenous period in Scer\GAL4tim.PE->shn756.Scer\UAS flies.
