Expression of Sox21aScer\UAS.Enh in the intestinal progenitor cells under the control of Scer\GAL4esg-NP5130 (limited to the adult stages using Scer\GAL80ts.αTub84B) induces differentiation of the anterior midgut cells into enterocytes and causes the loss of progenitors. The progenitors do not differentiate into enteroendocrine cells. Clusters of two to four ISCs are sometimes observed.
