Ime4Δ22-3 mutants are viable and fertile and homozygous females do not display any ovarian defects. Ime4Δ22-3/Df(3R)Exel6197 flies are flightless and the viability of females is reduced to 60% compared to the number of males.

Ime4Δ22-3;SxlfP7B0 double heterozygous daughters from Ime4Δ22-3 mutant females show strongly reduced female viability compared to controls and tumorous ovaries (no decrease in viability or ovarian defects are observed in the presence of maternal wild-type copy of Ime4). The reduced viability phenotype can be fully rescued by combination with msl-2227/Df(2L)Exel7016 although these females frequently show signs of sexual transformation and display male-specific features such as sex-combs, which are mosaic to various degrees.

The female lethality characteristic for either fl(2)d1 or vir2f homozygotes is rescued to a high degree by combination with a single copy of Ime4Δ22-3.

The male lethality of flies expressing YT521-BScer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 under the control of Scer\GAL4tub.PU is partially rescued by combination with Ime4Δ22-3 in a homozygous state (although the viability of such males is still much lower compared to controls).

Comments

The flightless phenotype characteristic for Ime4Δ22-3/Df(3R)Exel6197 mutant flies is rescued to a high degree by combination with Ime4T:Ivir\HA1.

The severely decreased viability of SxlfP7B0;Ime4Δ22-3 double heterozygous daughters from Ime4Δ22-3 females is also restored by combination with Ime4T:Ivir\HA1.
